Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref 16618 (1999) was the last full gold Rolex Submariner to sport an aluminum bezel before it was discontinued to make way for the first generation of 6-digit ceramic bezel watches. Many collectors prefer this design to the more contemporary Submariner because it has a nostalgic and timeless appeal with a narrower case, smaller crown guards, and an older-style aluminum bezel. Some argue that this design set flies a little more under the radar than 6-digit models, which is contradictory because gold Rolex watches like this one hardly go unnoticed in the wild.
